The Ardouval site was one of the V1 launch sites set up by the Germans to destroy London.
In the summer of 1943, Nazi Germany decided to bring into service secretly developed weapons, the V1 and V2: 400 V1 launch pads were installed from Dunkirk to Cherbourg, some thirty kilometres from the coast. The goal? To destroy London. In Seine-Maritime, among the 117 positions identified, the Val Ygot site is on the edge of the Eawy forest. At the end of 1943, when it was almost finished, Allied bombs stopped the work and the ramp was abandoned. In the spring of 1944, 9 other V2 ramps were built there, and were very active .
