Arques-la-Bataille Commonwealth Military Cemetery with 311 Zulu, Chinese, Hindu, and English graves
In this cemetery, created by the town hall of Arques-la-Bataille in 1916 and placed under the responsibility of the British government, there are 311 graves. Among these, 264 are those of Zulus and Bantus from South Africa who fought in His Majesty’s army. The others are those of Chinese, Hindus or English who belonged to the medical corps. Most of them came in 1917 to do road and forestry work, or to serve as quartermasters.
