CUVERVILLE CASTLE
Typical of the early 18th century Normandy, the building is built of ashlar and red bricks. Its pediment gives the whole a haughty look supported by its high chimneys that defy the winds. The lords of Cuverville were the owners. Later, in 1835, it was bought by the Rouenese family Rondeaux. In 1895, Madeleine Rondeaux inherited it. She married her cousin, André Gide, who had frequented the residence in his youth. The writer often stays there. He writes there and receives his friends. After his wife's death in 1938, he will no longer go.
