This residence was remodelled in the century when its defensive role was no longer necessary.
The manor of Catel was built by the tenth abbot of Fécamp between 1265 and 1270, which makes it the oldest seigniorial manor in the region. A magnificent medieval fortress, the residence was remodeled during the 15th century when its defensive role was no longer necessary. After a long period of abandonment, the building is now restored and classified as a historical monument since 2010. Don’t miss the majestic fortified gate and the 20-hectare park. Concerts, theatre, and the Mots et Merveilles festival bring the place to life in high season.
