SAN MARTIN CHURCH
King Charles VII endowed this church with a bell tower, a choir, chapels, and portals on the north and west sides.
The first building dates from the 11th century, destroyed by the Hundred Years War. King Charles VII, while rebuilding the city, endowed the church with a bell tower, a choir, chapels, and portals on the north and west sides. The abbess of Montivilliers will transform it in 1630 in the neo-classical taste with ringed and fluted columns. The 5 naves are transformed with stone vaults. Two of them were demolished during the French Revolution. The stained glass windows, destroyed over time, were replaced in 2011 by 14 bays created by the artist Bernard Piffaretti.
