VALENTINE'S CHURCH
A sumptuous church with a magnificent stone facade, a Romanesque nave, and a one-ton bell.
Just a stone’s throw from the famous abbey is this sumptuous 12th-century church with its magnificent stone façade. It was extensively remodeled in the 16th century. It takes its name from Valentin, who drove the rats out of the town, whose inhabitants were threatened by famine. Inside, you’ll find a Renaissance choir and a Romanesque nave, a curious blend of styles that lends Saint-Valentin its charm. A one-ton bell, installed at the very end of the 17th century, is still present.
