Some 7 000 students attended the University of Le Havre, born in the 1970 s with International Affairs, and truly inaugurated in 1984. It is largely a city centre university with three training and research units - science and technology, international affairs, letters and humanities - a university institute of technology - ITU - and a school of engineers - Higher Institute for Logistics studies. Of the eleven research laboratories, two are affiliated with the National Centre for Scientific Research.
Each of the training courses prepares for licence degrees, master and doctoral degrees. OTC, occupational licenses, engineering diplomas are also issued.
