House with rooms dedicated to the history of trade, travel, and the port
Rescued from the bombardments, the Maison de l’Armateur is one of Le Havre’s most beautiful buildings. Built around 1790 by architect Paul-Michel Thibault (1735-1799), it was bought by shipowner Martin Foäche in 1800. Its originality lies in its octagonal skylight, around which the rooms are distributed over 5 floors. You’ll discover objects and furniture from everyday life, as well as rooms dedicated to the history of trade, travel and the port, including a fine collection of nautical charts. A must-see!
