ASSOCIATION ROUEN ROLLER DERBY (ARRD)
Mounted on their roller skates, several heads roll at full speed in the Jesse Owens room. What are they doing? Roller Derby, a team sport, contact and speed imported from the United States, influenced by punk and the third feminist wave. In Maromme, the team is mixed, solidarity, dynamic, fair play and impatient to cut. It welcomes novices all year long, delicately called fresh meat. Each new member begins by choosing a nickname, for example "Kraby" for the president or "Bad Reputation" for the secretary. After an hour of physical preparation and muscular clumsiness, players start on the oval track. An hour match, divided into several sleeves, opposes two teams. Each of them appoints a "jammer" to score points by exceeding its opponents who literally play elbows to block it. No panic, the only authorised contacts are made with shoulders, buttocks or hips. The team that scores the most points has won. And everyone comes out to celebrate this at the bar, around a little foam… a whole programme!
