MONTIVILLIERS ABBEY
Montivilliers Abbey with a garden, with a wooden cloister gallery, kitchen areas and a library.
Founded in the 7th century to welcome nuns according to the rule of Saint Benedict, by Saint Philibert, abbot of Jumièges. The buildings are organised around a square cloister, with the conventual church to the north, intended for community services. Then come the kitchen areas, the refectory, the dormitories, the chapter house and the library. The 13th-century Gothic refectory, now an exhibition hall, has magnificent vaults. The wooden cloister gallery has been rebuilt and the inner garden redesigned.
