PROTESTANT TEMPLE
The Protestant community of Montivilliers, important since the beginning of the Reformation, was able to meet in different places according to the political hazards of the country, notably at the Manoir de Bévilliers, now in the territory of Gonfreville-l'Orcher. If the time of Louis XIV gave rise to a dragonade in Montivilliers and a long period of desert, with worship being practiced clandestinely in the countryside, Louis XVI's edict of tolerance, published in 1787, allowed the construction of this temple. In the Louis XVI style, it has remained in its original state: oval in shape, it is decorated with a classical pediment supported by four columns. The sober interior is also in the Louis XVI style. On the ground, a mosaic of black and white tesserae represents the Huguenot cross. The temple is surrounded by its cemetery.
