SAINT ROMAN CHURCH
This church is located near the train station, at the corner of La Rochefoucauld and Champ des Oiseaux streets.
If you arrive in Rouen by train, it is likely that the Saint-Romain church will be one of the first monuments you will see. It is located near the station, at the corner of the streets of La Rochefoucauld and Champ des Oiseaux. Built between 1676 and 1730, this former convent chapel of Carmes Déchaussées became a parish church in 1791 and was enriched with furniture from extinct churches. It contains the tomb of Saint Romain, bishop of Rouen who died in 639, and who performed many miracles. Saint Romain remains today the patron saint of Rouen, maintaining its popularity thanks to the famous fair of the same name!
