The church of Sainte-Jeanne-d'Arc, built in 1979, features beautiful stained glass windows

Sainte-Jeanne-d’Arc was built in 1979. Its architect, Louis Arretche, wanted to give the building the shape of an overturned boat. He revived the principles of traditional shipbuilding by creating an exposed wooden structure above the nave. As the church is below the nave, the view is impressive, both from the narthex (raised part) and from the fish-shaped exterior openings. Very beautiful stained glass windows to be seen from the inside.

Die Kirche ist überraschend schön. Die gesamte Architektur ist meines Erachtens auf eine riesige Buntglasfensterfront ausgerichtet. Das sind die Fenster aus einer im Krieg zerbombten Kirche. Die hier zu einem erzählerischen Ensemble zusammengeführt worden sind. Aber eigentlich ist die Kirche der Jeanne D'Arc gewidmet. Aus diesem Grund sieht man auch einige Skulpturen von ihr, einige sind bemerkenswert.
