SEAFARERS' HOSTEL CHAPEL
Chapel with Norwegian architecture, dedicated to St. Olaf, the Viking leader who would have been baptized here in the early eleventh century
A little bit of Scandinavia in the heart of Rouen? The chapel of the Foyer des Marins, or Saint-Olaf church, is the place to be! The monument, with its typically Norwegian architecture, is quite appealing. It must be said that its salmon-coloured façade and its baroque dome are unlike any other building in Rouen. Built in 1926, this chapel dedicated to Saint Olaf reminds us of the city’s Viking past. History tells us that Olaf, a Viking leader, was baptised here at the beginning of the 11th century.
