A large cemetery in Rouen, where you can find the graves of composers, writers, painters, ironworkers, and admirals.

Created in 1828 by decision of the Marquis de Martainville, then Mayor of Rouen, the monumental cemetery is one of the largest in the city. It is located on the hillside, halfway between the city centre and the Sapins. Included are the graves of the composer François-Adrien Boieldieu (1775-1834), the writer Gustave Flaubert (1821-1880), the painter Eustache-Hyacinthe Langlois (1777-1837), the ironworker Ferdinand Marrou (1836-1917) and the Admiral Jean-Baptiste Cécille (1787-1873). This funeral complex, in its oldest part, is a remarkable testimony to the mentality and tastes of the bourgeoisie of Rouen in the 19th century.

Endroit paisible.
