THE CATHEDRAL'S COURTYARD AND BOOKSELLERS' GATE
A late courtyard with a remarkable portal, renowned for its sculpted medallions, is a must-see in Rouen.
In this court, dating back to the end of the 13th Century, the booksellers’ shops were installed in the Middle Ages. On the right was the cathedral of the cathedral. The Booksellers portal (portail portal), stuffed in this small courtyard, presents the Passion (upper register), the Resurrection and the Last Judgment (lower registers). The rose is framed by the virgins, crazy and wise. This portal is famous for its 150 sculpted medallions depicting scenes of Genesis, some fancy characters and larger scenes.
