This monument, discovered by chance in 1976, is the oldest Jewish monument in Western Europe.

The Jewish monument was discovered by chance in 1976, during works in the courthouse. Probably built during the Romanesque period, around the year 1100, it is the oldest Jewish monument in Western Europe. Located in the former Jewish quarter of the city, this monument was part of a former rabbinical school. You can still see ancient Hebrew inscriptions on the walls. The crypt has been developed to facilitate the access, as well as to clean up and seal this very fragile historical site.
