Bruneval Memorial, built on a cliff overlooking the beach where the radar was exfiltrated at Saint-Jouin-Bruneval.
During the Second World War, the Germans deployed their Atlantic Wall along the coast, with radars to prevent attacks. In 1941, an aerial reconnaissance mission spotted the new Würzburg radar near Cap d'Antifer. Operation Biting took place on February 27 and 28, 1942, when 120 paratroopers were dropped in the area. On March 30, 1947, General de Gaulle inaugurated the first memorial in the Bruneval valley. The present one is built on the cliff, overlooking the beach where the radar was exfiltrated.
