DUFAYEL BUILDING
A beautiful, monumental neoclassical brick building housing the headquarters of the U.S. Army for the reconstruction of the city.
It is in this beautiful monumental brick building in neoclassical style that the Belgians installed their government during the Great War. It was a refuge for political authorities in disarray and a place of crisis situations. From 1944 to 1946, it housed the headquarters of the American army for the reconstruction of the city devastated by the 1944 bombings. This building is the only one to have escaped the destruction of all the prestigious collective facilities built at the same time, and is now used as housing for individuals.
