Abbey called Sainte-Marie de Valmont, which could not accommodate more than 25 monks.

The abbey of Notre-Dame-du-Pré de Valmont, originally called Sainte-Marie-de-Valmont, was founded by Nicolas d’Estouteville in 1169. It was destroyed and rebuilt several times, and was not completed until the 16th century. The Renaissance style is evident in the nave with its wide arcades, the triforium with geminated columns and the six o’clock chapel. In the 19th century, Eugène Delacroix often visited the Valmont family estate to paint Ruines de l’abbaye de Valmont, now on display in the Louvre. The site offers accommodation and spiritual retreats.
