LATHAM MONUMENT 47
This concrete monument located in Caudebec-en-Caux is surprising but interesting.
In Caudebec-en-Caux, this concrete monument is surprising but interesting. Indeed, the city was once home to aeronautical shipyards and, when the Italia airship crashed during an expedition to the North Pole, the Latham 47 seaplane, fresh out of the factory, initially planned to attempt the North Atlantic crossing, went to its rescue on June 16, 1928. It disappeared, despite the technical prowess it represented for aeronautics at the time. The monument was built at the place where it took off for this mission, as a tribute to the missing crew.
