HARFLEUR'S TRICKS AND FASCINES

Spanning the two small St. Gertrude and Ambion rivers, these towers recall the turbulent past of Caudebec. They are the testimony of medieval times, and more precisely of the period of the Hundred Years War, since these towers are vestiges of the ancient fortifications built in the th century during the conflict between the Plantagenêts and Valois dynasties. In 1759, the Caudebecquais requested that the town walls protecting the city be destroyed, except the towers of Harfleur and Des (the latter housed the English canons).
