CASTLE-MUSEUM OF DOURDAN
Castle-museum with well-preserved towers, fortified castle and dungeon, the municipal museum traces the history of Dourdan
Built in 1222 under the reign of King Philippe Auguste, the castle of Dourdan has a particularly well preserved defense system in spite of the damage it suffered during the Hundred Years' War and the Wars of Religion: six towers, a fortified châtelet and a dungeon. Important people were imprisoned here, such as Joan of Burgundy, Queen of France, or La Hire, companion of Joan of Arc. The municipal museum traces the history of Dourdan. Animations and temporary exhibitions are held there regularly.
