STATE-OWNED FOREST OF DOURDAN
This 1,600-hectare forest forms the south-western boundary of the Ile-de-France region, before the Beauce plateau
Extending southward from the Rambouillet forest, this 1,600 ha forest massif marks the southwestern limit of the Ile-de-France region, before the Beauce plateau. Since the Merovingians, it belonged to the royal domain. In 1163, the abbey of Ouÿe was built there. It constitutes a pleasant goal of walk. Crossed by the GR1 and the GR111, the forest of Dourdan offers a route of about 155 km. At its southern tip, the "Oak of the Six Brothers" is located, whose trunk is nearly 6 m in circumference.
