The tourist office is located in the Hotel of Anne de Pisseleu, which was built in the early 16th century. What a charming atmosphere to experience, since Étampes and its region have been labelled Countries of Art and History. Here, several sculptures adorn one of its facades, while animal friezes run along the roof. The interior of the home has little to do with the past, but one can always imagine François I visiting his favourite, the Duchess of Briand, while watching the exhibitions there. The office organises guided tours of the city: Grand Royal Circuit, Old Pavés Circuit, Route of Favourites, Duchesses, Churches Circuit, Circuit of Mills, and Washing Machines. It publishes very didactic booklets that allow visitors to explore the city alone. You can also download audio-guided routes on its site or borrow MP3 players at the office for two walks: Through the Water and Downtown. The programme also includes hiking around the area, duly documented in many materials.
