SAINT-GILLES CHURCH
This church built between the xiiith and the xve century mixes the Romanesque styles (bell and low part of the nef) and flamboyant gothic. Its bell tower is double builders pierced with bays in which you can see the suppresses separately. Gargoulia dominate the small square in length where one of France's largest grain markets took place. It was established in 1123 by a charter by Louis VI le Gros. The presence of tombstones of merchants testifies to the time when this activity was particularly flourishing. The sixteenth century painted vault was rediscovered following a bombing which in 1944 severely damaged the building. It was patiently restored in the decades that followed. Close to the church, the charming house of the Pillars is the oldest residence in the city.
