PRINT MUSEUM
The museum is located in the wing of the town hall built by the architect Magne in the 19th century. From the ground floor to the first floor, visitors pass through rooms that evoke the great historical periods that shaped the city. The tour begins in paleontology, with many fossils dating back to the Stampian period. We continue with archaeology. In the large room below, the Gallo-Roman mosaic of Souzy-la-Briche, the necropolis of Bruno-Bonnevaux, has been entirely reconstructed on the ground. Upstairs, paintings from the 18th and 19th centuries transport you into the Stampois landscapes of that period. Narcisse Berchère, landscape gardener and orientalist, meets Gustave Moreau, representative of symbolism. Contemporary works are also presented. In total, no less than 260 paintings, 358 sculptures and about 3,000 prehistoric objects are presented here. Finally, the place is the setting for regular events for individuals, or the museum's workshops: combining the library, the heritage animation service, the city's cultural service and the conservatory, they are intended for everyone: but be careful, the reservation is highly recommended.
