PAUL DELOUVRIER MUSEUM OF SACRED ART
Located in the back of the Resurrection Cathedral (between the walls of the wall of the choir), the museum, easily recognizable with its ochre façade, was inaugurated more than a decade ago now. It bears the name of an illustrious senior official, Paul Delouvrier, the first prefect of the Île-de-France region and who was of great interest in the construction of the new city of Évry and its development. The museum is organized on three levels. The first is specifically devoted to Ethiopia: ancient and contemporary paintings, furniture and jewelry introduce us to this historic civilization. The second level is dedicated to contemporary art with several canvases given by private patrons or artists, including Gérard Fromanger, Anne Deguelle, Louis Cane… The museum also gives itself the objective of helping and promoting young talent and regularly organizes temporary exhibitions. The third level is devoted to sacred liturgical art, including a Christ in the roseau attributed to Giovanni Caracciolo and the ancient paintings, and to the sacred Ethiopian art. You will also admire a fabulous group of Wakas statutes. Finally, temporary exhibitions are often put in place.
