Eighteenth century castle on the former site of the Hurault fortress, one of the examples of Louis XVI style, houses a museum and a park
The Château du Marais is located on a site previously occupied by the Hurault's fortified castle, of which the moat and dungeon have been preserved. Built at the end of the 18th century by the architect Jean Benoît Vincent Barré, for Jean Le Maître de La Martinière, this castle is one of the most remarkable examples of Louis XVI style in the Paris region. Its 35-hectare park, designed in the 1900s, is lined with age-old trees and marked by a superb 550-meter-long water mirror. The Taleyrand Museum pays tribute to the ancestors of the current owners.
