LINAS-MONTLHÉRY AIRFIELD
The Linas-Montlhéry autodrome was created in 1924 by the industrialist Alexandre Lamblin. His goal was to become a velocity ring, like those of Brooklands (England), Indianapolis (USA) and Monza (Italy). The loop, calculated for speeds of 220 km/h, is more than 2.5 km. Success was immediate and records succeeded. Thanks to the addition of a car circuit in 1925, famous races followed. Yet operating difficulties will emerge in the aftermath of World War II. For technical, safety and standard-setting reasons, the autodrome can no longer host sporting events. Today, the site is visited during special events, such as in high-quality car exhibitions.
