THE ROYBET FOULD MUSEUM
Founded in 1927, the museum's façade is decorated with geometric friezes made from sawdust shavings.
Dedicated to the painter Ferdinand Roybet (1840-1920), this museum was founded in 1927 by Consuelo Fould (1862-1927). The permanent collection includes works from the 19th century: paintings (Roybet and Fould, Scheffer) and sculptures (Carpeaux). The building is housed in one of the former Swedish and Norwegian pavilions built for the 1878 Universal Exhibition. The façade is decorated with geometric motifs made from sawdust shavings. The effect is striking. The ensemble was reassembled around 1900 and presented to one of Consuelo Fould's daughters.
