OLD QUARRIES
The old chalk quarries are an unusual place of visit, testimony of a time when the basement of Issy was used to extract limestone, chalk and sand from the construction of buildings in the th century. They were in service for about a century, from 1825 to 1925-1930. The galleries also had much more unusual functions and served as mushroom, banana mûrisseries, wine cellars and shelters during the bombings of the Second World War. Under the beautiful vaults dug in the rock, you can take part in a guided tour and a tasting of local wines. Note that you will need to contact the Tourist office for information on visits that are irregular, but always very original!
