NATIONAL ESTATE OF MEUDON
Domain with an orangery by Le Vau and a terrace offering a superb view of Paris
In the 16th century, a castle was built on these lands, owned by Louvois, Louis XIV's minister of war, and Le Nôtre organized the gardens. A new residence called Château Neuf was built for the Dauphin on the plans of Mansart while the Old Château was demolished at the beginning of the 19th century. Today, the estate is divided into two parts, one of which is open to the public and includes an orangery by Le Vau and a terrace with a superb view of Paris.
