Inaugurated on December 31, 1999 at midnight to celebrate the passage to the year 2000, this electric carillon is the largest of the entire island of France, outside Paris. It is located at 43 m high and consists of twenty-seven bells graveled by the names of all the mayors who have succeeded the city head. The boilers, Régis Singer and Jean-Louis Bourand, designed and adapted others from works of composers such as Vivaldi or drew from popular directories, choosing for example Cherry Time. In order to celebrate the transition to the new millennium, the town hall of Montrouge had the idea of getting into the city's belfry that carillon: guaranteed effect! Today, even if the inhabitants seem to be used to it, they keep a huge pride in the carillon.
