THÉÂTRE DES AMANDIERS

Although the building was inaugurated in 1976, it is necessary to go back about ten years to understand the genesis of the project. In the heart of the 1960s, when the last slums were still standing, a first festival of theatre under a tent was organised - the latter being called "almond trees". Dedicated automatically to the dramatic art, it will be officially stamped "national dramatic centre". And the reputation of the place is well established: original creations, revival of standards with, often, a contemporary colour, sulphurous moments, others more unifying, the list is very long of those who have passed through here, still do, and are tomorrow's headliners. The public braves a public transport service that is necessarily easy to come here, to marvel, to be moved, to reflect. The place, which also has a restaurant, offers many meetings and workshops.
