FOLIE SAINT-JAMES
This "Madness", a popular resort in the 1777 th and th centuries, was built in for the Baron de Saint James, the general treasurer of the colonies. Wishing to compete with elegance with the "Madness" of the Count of Artois (now "Pavilion of Bagatelle" in the Bois de Boulogne), the Baron appealed to the same architect, François Bélanger, to build his little palace. The 12-hectare rock-style park features an artificial cave, river, water and waterfalls. After setbacks, the Baron is forced to sell his property, which is then pushed. In 1844, the sites were converted into a health home, and the painter Toulouse-Lautrec séjournera at the end of the century. The State bought the domain in the s and built a high school. Folie Saint James has been registered in Historical monuments since 1922 and belongs to the General Council of Hauts-de-Seine.
