HÔTEL PROVIDENCE * * * *
Hotel with an elaborate facade from the 1850s with bourgeois style rooms and a top floor suite with a view of the Sacré-Coeur.
This new hotel was created by Elodie and Pierre Moussié, owners of Chez Jeannette, Sans-Souci, Mansart, Brasserie Barbès and Floréal. The hotel's 1850s façade is an instant eye-catcher. The interior has all the trappings of a bourgeois home, with stucco and dark parquet flooring in all rooms and common areas. Baroque chandeliers hang from the ceilings. The cosy decor, a little British with a hint of the 1950s for trendiness, features a lot of velvet with palm tree motifs, and antique but plush furnishings. The traditional desk has been replaced by a beech and marble counter, with integrated ice dispenser and everything customers need to prepare their own cocktails using recipes provided. They can also call on the barman to bring their chosen cocktail to their room. The suite on the top floor is a little marvel, with its private landing and bathroom overlooking the Sacré-Coeur. Finally, on the first floor, a large space is reserved for the bar. The hotel is well connected, with computers in every room.

It was our first time there. They upgraded our room (they didn't know about my cancer) and honestly it was one of the nicest rooms ever (the wallpaper is velvet--you should feel it!) and the timing of the upgrade was nice considering the nature of our trip.
The breakfasts are nice and the service is fab. At the end of our trip they sent us a voucher for 20% off our next trip which is amazingly generous and more than some hotels in the vicinity do.
Only complaints are ---there's a huge amount of smokers outside and it can waft inside the entrance. At busy times it was hard to escape this smell of cigarettes. Usually it wouldn't bother me so much (smokers in France is pretty typical) but considering my health it would have been nice to have had a place I could have sat downstairs a bit more without this.
Their grilled cheese/truffle sandwich was a bit too heavy on the truffle in my opinion and slightly disappointing.
I also was slightly disappointed in the location. Although its on a very quiet street which is nice you do have to walk a good 10-15 minutes to either direction to get to some of the more decent recents/sites--the canals/Marais/Passages.
Despite a few things my partner and I will definitely be back. I think this place would especially be nice in the colder weather as they have a fireplace. :)
Bravo et merci à toute l'équipe !
Une table de bon goût dans un décor rétro genial
Le service est très agréable et le lieu parfaitement charmant.
Je reviendrai avec plaisir lors d'un prochain séjour.
