HÔTEL RICHMOND * *
Hotel opposite the Gare du Nord with flashy coloured rooms and double glazing, undeniable value for money.
Located opposite the Gare du Nord station, the Richmond is an early-morning train stop for trains to Belgium and the UK. It's popular with business travelers, but also ideal for families who don't mind the constant hustle and bustle of the area. The flashy-colored rooms are served by an elevator and equipped with double-glazing, which is very useful in this street teeming with people and cars. For a peaceful night's sleep, ask for a room overlooking the courtyard. On the other hand, the value for money is undeniable...

THE GOOD
* Very convenient location next to Gare du Nord train station (Eurostar).
* Minimal staff but friendly enough.
* Rooms are smallish and basic, but clean, with nice hot showers. Firm beds. Aircon and TV (both working).
* Decent WiFi (free).
* Breakfast (in the next door New Hotel) is perfectly adequate.
* Will look after your cases (for free).
THE BAD
* The neighbourhood (like around most stations) is a little dubious after dark.
* The hotel's communal areas are tired and a bit grubby.
* No coffee making facilities in the room.
* Not great sound proofing between rooms.
Overall good value for money, as long as you don't expect luxury!
