CRISTALLERIES SCHWEITZER
Access: Jaques Bonsergent or Goncourt metro.
History: created in 1890, the Cristalleries Schweitzer passed into the hands of the Nicolas family in the 1930s. A family known, moreover, for its activity in the field of wine. For many years, the crystal works cut and created their services and creations to supply luxury brands such as Hermès and Vuitton. It was in the 1960s that the crystal works started to repair. Later, one of Mr. Nicolas' daughters married a Mr. Schweitzer to whom the company today owes its name. In 1985, he passed away but two glassmakers took over the company while keeping his name, whose reputation is well established. Today, the company is run by two partners. The workshop offers repair and restoration services for glass and crystal: all repairs of parts, from classic glass chipped at the edge or at the base to a chipped vase, including a knife holder service. The house is stamped EPV, Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (Living Heritage Company).
Special feature: the repair of glass and crystal items is extremely rare: the company is the last one in Ile-de-France. It carries out the complex operations of cutting, recutting, gluing (UV), polishing, polishing and engraving. Located on the banks of the Saint-Martin canal in Paris, a stone's throw from the Hôtel du Nord, the workshop has a clientele of private individuals (Parisians and tourists), antique dealers, luxury hotels and embassies.
Products: in addition to repairs on your crystal parts, the house offers for sale a small stock of recycled parts and creations. This remains crystal, therefore relatively expensive purchases
The plus: open days in the workshops
