As a fashion accessory, the fan has accompanied the toilet over time by adapting to social phenomena. Today, it is very present on podiums, in magazines and on theatre stages. Anne Hoguet's Atelier is the only one in France to work on the range in all its forms. It has received the Entreprise du patrimoine vivant award.

History. The origins of the Atelier Anne Hoguet go back to 1876. In Sainte-Geneviève in the Oise region, the cradle of the tabletting industry, Joseph Hoguet Duroyaume created his fan frame workshop.

The grinding was worked in noble materials such as white mother-of-pearl, Goldfish mother-of-pearl, burgau, black mother-of-pearl, turtle shell, bone, horn, precious woods. All these materials were shaped, sculpted, perforated, guilloched, engraved, inlaid with fine gold. The sheet that covered the upper part of the frame was decorated and mounted by the Parisian fan makers, who were also in charge of the sale. The Hoguet family has perpetuated fan making by adding fashion accessories for haute couture, jewellery and art tablets.

In 1960, Hervé Hoguet bought the collection of one of the most prestigious fan houses of the 19th century, the Kees house (created in 1805) at 2, boulevard de Strasbourg, in Paris, thus bringing together the two trades: tabletier and fan maker. Until then, Parisian fan makers were in charge of assembling swanskin and vellum leaves, silks with paintings on mythological themes, gallant scenes, stitch, needle or bobbin lace, organzas, sequins and feathers.

Over time, the demand for fans has decreased significantly. However, the House of Paris survived thanks to the work of tabletting and jewellery creation carried out in the Sainte-Geneviève workshop.
One of Hervé Hoguet's daughters, Anne, makes fans in the Parisian workshop for the Opera, theatre, cinema and haute couture (Dior, Gaultier, Hermès, Lacroix, Nina Ricci, Torrente, Vuitton...). She also carries out fan restoration work for the whole of France. In 1993, it created the Fan Museum, which contains more than 2,500 pieces.

The products. Fans from 100 to 2 000 € each.

Employment. Anne Hoguet works alone.
