GREENPEACE FRANCE
Since its first expedition in 1971 under the name «Don't make a wave committee», Greenpeace has acted for environmental protection and the promotion of peace. With unprecedented media success, this Non-governmental Organization has already won many decisive victories: stop American nuclear Tests in Alaska, French nuclear tests in the Pacific, end of the extermination of whales and grey seals, ban on the dumping of nuclear and industrial waste in the sea, moratoria on GMO crops, reduction of deforestation(...). Greenpeace's work is internationally recognised, and both governments and large companies have repeatedly been forced to make concessions against this body and the important community (3 million members) who support it.
What are they proposing? Over 15 000 volunteers work alongside Greenpeace. You can start by donating, registering on social networks or joining a local group, these volunteer teams who locally decline the international campaigns of the organization. At the headquarters of the association, in Paris, volunteers participate in the daily tasks of the permanent staff. In the national and regional offices the tasks are very varied: administrative assistance, participation in events on the ground, etc. The most adventurous or invested can also go on board Greenpeace boats. On board, there is no shortage of activities: participation in scientific analyses, tracing of illegal activities or media reports [MM 2]; This journey at the heart of action is a unique experience. Finally, activists, activists present in the actions that make the organization reputation are also volunteers, a long-standing enagagés with the NGO.
Where? With its 28 national or regional offices and 3 boats, Greenpeace is present worldwide. You can consult the list of antennas on their website to find the one nearest you. Greenpeace's current fighting is the fight against deforestation (Indonesia, Brazil, Congo…), the protection of oceans, the reduction of climate change, the transition to energy transition (nuclear output and the development of renewable energy) and the promotion of sustainable agriculture (released in particular from gmos). These global challenges lead to actions around the world.
Profile and conditions. Greenpeace is aimed at all those who are willing to devote some of their time to environmental protection. Everyone can be voluntary, there is no period of commitment or skills required aside from interest in the cause. To take part in the campaigns aboard a Greenpeace boat you will need a valid passport and an STCW 95 licence that certifies your qualifications on board.
