THE VIADUCT OF THE ARTS
Over a 1.5 km stretch, you'll find around fifty addresses of restaurateurs, furniture makers, and jewellery designers.
The railway viaduct built in the mid-19th century for a line linking the Place de la Bastille to the suburbs was decommissioned in 1969. In the 1990s, the top of the viaduct was transformed into a planted promenade, and part of its vaults into workshops and art galleries. Along its 1.5 km length, there are some 50 restaurants and bars (gathering places for local residents), as well as furniture makers, jewellery designers, luthiers, embroiderers, dressmakers, designers.
