RESTAURANT VILA REAL
Restaurant offering a la carte traditional fish and meat dishes.
It's a neighborhood troquet that doesn't pay a mine. We have to push the door. There is a clear, simple room with a few paintings and black and white photos. The brick bar has a tile roof… A map of traditional dishes based on fish or meat very well cooked by the chef and head of places Maria Gonçalves. Her daughter works with her in cooking while her husband plays in the room. The famous cod is very demanding but it is not alone. Plancha gambas are one of the home's specialties, such as the octopus and squid, the pato arroz (duck rice) or the feijoada, a dish based on white beans equivalent to the cassoulet topped with several meats (sausage, pork, beef) and with rice. At lunchtime, you'll find a lot of people working and menus have French dishes, in the evening they're often used by the neighborhood.
