The Frigos buildings are a unique testimony to the industrial past of this transformed district. These former refrigerated warehouses (1921) connected to the railroad lines closed in 1971, bought by the SNCF for the symbolic franc. Despite this, from 1980 onwards, the SNCF put the dozens of spaces up for precarious rent. The hundred or so tenants from 14 different professions transformed the spaces themselves to suit their needs, be they musicians, architects, technicians or artists, or even jazz schools.
