The Alzheimer Research Foundation was created to support and coordinate research on Alzheimer's disease. It mainly finances clinical research projects, focused on the patient. The Foundation's missions are : the creation of a Tissue Bank and a Brain Bank to improve knowledge of the disease through the monitoring of two cohorts of more than 500 patients recruited throughout France; support for the research work of the IHU A-ICM (Brain Institute), to which the Institute of Memory and Alzheimer's Disease located on the Pitié Salpêtrière site belongs; the awarding of a European Grand Prize for Alzheimer's Research and a European Young Researcher's Prize to support promising clinical research work and encourage European synergies. Finally, the Foundation is behind the installation of the first PET-MRI dedicated solely to neurodegenerative diseases at the Pitié Salpêtrière Hospital. This equipment, unique in France, allows for an even more precise diagnosis at an early stage, which gives a new impetus to research. The Alzheimer Research Foundation is under the aegis of the Foundation for Medical Research.
