HÔPITAL UNIVERSITAIRE PITIÉ SALPÊTRIÈRE
This enormous complex is in fact the union of two establishments: the Hôpital de la Pitié, originally located in the 17th arrondissement, and the Salpêtrière, whose construction was decided by Louis XIV in 1656. The building takes its name from the powder factory that was located at this location. A women's prison was added and it was only after the Revolution that this complex began to really play its role as a hospital. Today, it is one of the largest hospitals in France. During the attacks, many victims were taken care of in this establishment. The hospital also has a blood donation office.
