OFFICE FRANCO-ALLEMAND POUR LA JEUNESSE
The Franco-German Youth Office (OFAJ) is an international organization based in Paris, Berlin and Saarbrücken. Created in 1963 by the Élysée Treaty, the OFAJ's mission is to promote relations between French and German young people, to strengthen their mutual understanding, and to develop representations of the neighboring country. The OFAJ supports youth exchanges and projects between France and Germany, such as school and university exchanges, language courses, town twinning, sports and cultural events, work placements, travel grants and research projects. The organization also extends its activities to other European countries, thanks to special funds from the French and German Ministries of Foreign Affairs. The OFAJ works in collaboration with numerous partners and project sponsors, and has an annual budget of 29.5 million euros. Since its creation, the OFAJ has enabled over 9.5 million young people to take part in some 382,000 exchange programs.
