AUSTERLITZ VIADUCT
The Viaduc d'Austerlitz, an elegant metal bridge with a deck topped by a large arch in Paris
Built in 1904 to allow the passage of the metro, this metal bridge has a certain elegance. It consists of a deck topped by a large arch. Its decoration - by Jean-Camille Formigé - features fish, shells and the coat of arms of Paris. The viaduct is used by Line 5 trains between the Quai de la Rapée and Gare d'Austerlitz stations. Note that the viaduct penetrates directly into the station, under high glass roofs that were restored to their former glory a few months ago.
