POPLAR SQUARE
Poplar Square is still full of flowers and trees, and incredibly quiet.
This square takes its name from the numerous poplars that once lined the Bièvre - Paris's other historic waterway - now buried underground after Baron Haussmann's works. The area was drained, and small houses were built on the plot in 1926. Situated on the slopes of the Butte-aux-Cailles, the area was a working-class neighbourhood before becoming the object of covetousness for its surroundings. Square des Peupliers is still abundantly flowered, planted with trees and incredibly quiet. In other words, a haven of greenery and peace!
