ACTION RÉCONCILIATION SERVICE POUR LA PAIX
ASF(Aktion Sühnezeichen Friedensdienste, Action Signe de Réconciliation Service pour la Paix) was founded in Germany in the aftermath of the Second World War (1958) with the aim of opposing the values of tolerance and solidarity to the logic of hatred and exclusion that had bloodied Europe under the German occupation.
Today, ASF is committed in Europe, the United States and Israel to the fight against racism and anti-Semitism, but also to the integration of all victims of discrimination (people with disabilities, the socially disadvantaged, foreigners seeking regularization, homosexuals, etc.) through voluntary services, known as "services for peace". In France, ASF has been committed to promoting peace for over 50 years, notably through its involvement in social and historical projects.
What do they offer? ASF offers international workcamps and voluntary services in the fields of remembrance and the fight against racism, anti-Semitism, exclusion and discrimination.
The projects on offer are very diverse, ranging from remembrance (archive work, guided tours, event organization, upkeep of former Jewish cemeteries, meetings with survivors and victims of the Second World War, etc.), social action (support for the elderly, assistance in therapeutic homes, etc.), ecology (work on organic farms) and socio-cultural activities.
Where? France, Germany, Belgium, Great Britain, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Czech Republic, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Israel and USA.
Profile and requirements: over 18 years of age (except for certain international workcamps: please contact the association or consult the list of projects on www.asf-ev.de/fra/volontariats/chantiers-dete.html) and an interest in history and peace services.
